2011 Wrest Point Royal Hobart Wine Show

12 – 18 November

Held in November each year the Wrest Point Royal Hobart Wine Show is one of the most significant events on the Australian wine industry calendar.

First held in 1975 it has grown steadily in popularity and status to become the second largest wine show in the country. Its reputation as the showcase of a wide range of high quality wines of all styles has blossomed as part of this development, with an ever-increasing stream of high praise coming from judges, wine writers, exhibitors from all over Australia and the general public.

In keeping with Tasmania’s cool climate is the special place occupied by Pinot Noir in the Show. The award for the best Pinot Noir wine is the most prestigious in the Show. Sponsored by Etihad Airlines it provides return tickets for two to Paris. There is an additional award which goes to the best Tasmanian wine of a parcel of wine from Burgundy to the value of $2 000 selected by John Avery, MW.
