The Pink Furmingo's

Rare and intriguing Pink Furmingo with rider

Flamingo: Common name for the five species of a family of birds having exceptionally long legs and long, highly flexible necks. These, until recently, bred in the Caribbean area, from Yucatán and the West Indies to the coast of northeastern South America and throughout Chile.

Furmingo: A strange and rare species of flamingo only found in Tasmania, currently only two are known two exist. It is larger than the Greater flamingo being approximately three metres in height and has an outer layer of pink fur. The furmingo’s habitat is at conferences, festivals and wherever there is a gathering of human beings.

There seems to exist a symbiotic relationship between furmingo’s and humans. The furmingos love to approach humans unaware from behind and quietly sneak a drink, a nibble or a peck. The furmingo’s thrive on the reaction of a human turning around, in awe to see a tall bird staring at them. Most recently, the two furmingos have been ridden by humans, these skilled riders are able to interact with the furmingos and appear to be as one, also relishing in the furmingo’s habitat and habits.
