Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

The G&S Society in association with Allan Jeffrey and Leiz Moore are thrilled to present the must see Disney musical Beauty and the Beast from 1-15 November at the Theatre Royal.

A 30 minute highlight of this performance shall be showcased at The Royal Hobart Show 2008 in the Entertainment Pavilion on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday at 12 noon.

This hugely entertaining and spectacular musical has delighted adults and children around the world. Based on the Academy Award winning animated feature, the stage version includes all the wonderful songs from the film. Directed by Jeffrey and Moore, this will be the first time Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will have been staged at the magnificent Theatre Royal. Stunning staging, costumes and special effects plus a professional eleven-piece orchestra supports the talented cast.

Step into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern fairytale… you will be transported to medieval France where a young prince is transformed into a hideous Beast as punishment for his selfishness. The spell will only be broken if he can “learn to love and be loved in return”. Enter the wilful, intelligent Belle who dreams of a life less dull and escaping the proposed marriage to the handsome, but egocentric, Gaston.

But when Belle’s father is imprisoned by the heartless Beast, Belle gives up her freedom for her father’s release, imprisoned forever in the dark, gloomy – but magically enchanted castle
