Organised by the Blue Gum Rovers – CMCA Chapter, the Rally was a great success. There were around 250 motor homes on the main arena and at least another 50 in our normal Motor Home Park.
Over 300 Motor Homers participated in the official dinner on the upper level Main Grandstand at Hobart Showground. This was followed by entertainment, and at other times skits nights, craft classes, disc ball championships.
The Rally was officially opened by Ross Butler MP, representing The Premier of Tasmania and the Mayor of Glenorchy, Adrianna Taylor. Following the opening the Official Rally Photo was taken from the Showground's Western Video Tower.
Mayor Taylor, Mr Butler MP, Doug Richardson (Rally Convener) and Hobart Showground CEO, Philip LeGrove, can be seen in the centre of the photo just beyond the Australian Flag.
While there were many photos taken during the weekend, the following photo just needed to be displayed. No one is sure who was the more courageous in the photo; the single CARAVAN who was trying to invade the Motor Home Rally, or the RALLY OFFICIAL who stood in the way of the tow vehicle denying right of entry.
Who is the more courageous?
