January and February is well known for local summer fruits when you can find mouthwatering fruits at Market prices, or buy that someone special a bunch of freshly cut flowers? Kids are still on holiday and a visit to the Hobart Showground Sunday Market is the best ‘my time’.
March is usually our best month for weather in Tassie and it brings out the best in stalls and displays. Take photos of your favorite stall, market personality, yourself, a market event or something quirky. You can send these photos to peter@hobartshowground.com.au and it might even be displayed in our Pictures section!
While you're at the Showground you can also take in the Tradelink home renovation clearance sale (till the 8th March), various Dog Shows in the Kennel Pavilion, the Filipino Festival in the Grandstand Complex, and the Budgerigar and Canaries in the Poultry Pavilion.
April brings on the start of the Soccer season at the Showground, along with various Poultry and Avicultural Shows. It's a great time to be part of the Market, so amuse yourself while your kids play football or your partner is admires the chooks. During April you will be able to see the Arms & Militaria Collectors Show, Short & Curly Cat Show, Bantams in the Poultry Pavilion, and the Avicultural Sale in the Kennel Pavilion.
May is time for thinking about Mum. Bring her to the Market for a day out and find a superb gift that will be unlike all the rest! Other events of interest during May include the Cat Fanciers Show, Poultry Show, Budgerigars, the RSPCA Million Paws Walk (one of the biggest days of the year at the Showground).

June is when we hold our annual Stallholders dinner where stall holders bring a plate of sweets to compliment the fare provided. Here's your opportunity to mingle with the stall holders that you've been too busy to get to know. So get out of the house, get down to the Market, let your hair down and meet a friend or two!
Join us in July at Hobart’s biggest and best undercover Market. Just because winter has kicked in it doesn’t mean we stop! With over 90 indoor stalls plus our many stoic outdoor plant sellers and casual household stalls you can’t go past a great winter's day at the Showground Market!
August is the time for our annual Blues Jam Markets where Blues performers entertain throughout the month and on the last Sunday in winter our Blue Day n’ Bargains Market will blow the winter blues away! There is plenty of free entertainment with blues bands serenading the crowds, the kiddies can get their face painted blue and Blue Spot specials explode throughout the market. Visitors are encouraged to wear blue and the Stallholders to "blue up" themselves and their stalls. A great month of bargain markets with Blues entertainment to be enjoyed by all!
September and early October brings on our spring planting markets with a fantastic array of plants, seedlings and great garden ideas just at the right time.
Late October the Market closes (18th and 25th October) while the Showground hosts the annual Royal Hobart Show so our hard working Stallholders receive a well earned rest. During this time the Showground reverts back to its traditional uses; exhibiting the best livestock, the cutest companion animals and exciting competitions of all kinds. When the carnival sets up the ground's 17 hectares becomes a fabulous wonderland of entertainment and exchange! This year the Stallholders will be hosting an exhibit stand in The Show Pavilion, so catch up with them and collect your special Market Deals vouchers which are eligible for discounts and offers through till Christmas.
Market reopens 1st November.
November markets commence again (1st Nov) through to the New Year with a wild Christmas and gift buying frenzy. We reopen with the raspberries and Pink Eyes coming into season just in time for Christmas. Flowers and potted plants are displayed in abundance, while cards, decorations, and an incredible selection of gifts can be found. There is even a FREE wrapping service during December provided by the Stallholders Promotion Group, and if we’ve been really good Santa usually makes a visit on the Sunday before Christmas.
