The Wrest Point Royal Hobart Fine Food Awards are one of Tasmania’s key events in the culinary calendar. The event is organised by The Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania (RAST) to promote excellence in the production of different food types.
Held each August, entries have grown continuously since 1996. Entries for the Awards come from all over Australia, and include well known makers and producers as well as cottage craft producers, whose recognition through the Awards helps to build business, and sales and marketing opportunities.
Judges with Tasmanian, national and international experience work their way through more than 500 entries over three days. All entries are judged against stringent criteria and standards.
The Wrest Point Royal Hobart Fine Food Awards have been accepted as the qualifying path for Tasmanian entries in the Australian Grand Dairy Awards.
For RAST, the program is part of its mission to promote primary and rural based industries, and the down stream processing that occurs in these industries; and to foster a sense of excellence in areas such as Tasmanian wines and foods.
The 2008 Wrest Point Royal Hobart Fine Food Awards will be held from 15 – 17 August 2008.
